Attack on Titan Creator Hajime Isayama Draws Blue Lock Illustration, Fans Say His Art Skills Are Insane

Hajime Isayama’s Blue Lock illustration has become a major topic online after it was unveiled to celebrate the live action film Blue Lock surpassing ¥1 billion in box office revenue, approximately $6.41 million based on an exchange rate of ¥156 to $1.

Fans reacted enthusiastically to the dynamic illustration, with comments including, “Isagi is starting to look like Eren! He looks so cool,” “What is this, is this divine??? Isayama is just incredible,” “Isayama’s Isagi looks so cool too. The impact is amazing. His art skills are insane,” and “It has been such a long time since I saw Hajime Isayama’s artwork! About Blue Lock

Blue Lock is a soccer manga currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The story follows Yoichi Isagi, an unknown high school forward who battles fierce rivals as he pursues the emergence of a striker capable of revolutionizing Japanese soccer.

The story is set around the BLUE LOCK project, launched by the Japan Football Union to develop a striker capable of leading Japan to victory at the FIFA World Cup. A total of 300 high school forwards from across Japan are brought together to compete in an intense survival contest for the chance to remain in the program.

The manga has surpassed 60 million copies in circulation. Season 1 of the TV anime aired from October 2022 through March 2023, while Season 2 aired from October through December 2024. The series was also adapted into a game in 2022 and a stage production in 2023. A continuation of the anime has also been confirmed.

The live action film, which opened in Japan on August 7, is produced by CREDEUS, the company behind the Kingdom series, the Golden Kamuy series, and KOKUHO. Fumiya Takahashi stars as protagonist Yoichi Isagi.
