Fate/EXTRA Record Moves to Aniplex After Release Delay, New Updates Coming in September

Fate/EXTRA Record will now be published by Aniplex after Bandai Namco Entertainment ended its plans to publish the game. The title is planned for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam.

Fate/EXTRA Record Publisher Changes to Aniplex

Fate/EXTRA Record had originally been scheduled for release in spring 2026. However, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced in March that it would no longer publish the game.

At the time, the game's official X account stated that Bandai Namco Entertainment had decided to discontinue its publication of Fate/EXTRA Record and apologized to fans who had been looking forward to its release.

TYPE-MOON also explained on its official website that Fate/EXTRA Record, which had been scheduled for spring 2026, would undergo a review including changes to the development structure following discussions between Notes and Bandai Namco Entertainment. The company also said that the publisher would be changed in consideration of the project's future development.

It further explained that the release would be postponed as a result of these changes. Development would continue, with the new publisher and release timing to be announced once they had been decided.

The statement also apologized to fans who had been awaiting the game and asked for their understanding.

Five months after that announcement, Aniplex announced on August 31 that it would take over as publisher of the console and PC game Fate/EXTRA Record.

Aniplex said that new official website and X accounts for Fate/EXTRA Record had been established following the announcement and that the latest information about the game is scheduled to be released through its new official channels in September.

Fate/EXTRA Record Has Faced Multiple Release Delays

Fate/EXTRA Record is a full remake of Fate/EXTRA, the first RPG released in the Fate series.

The remake was initially being developed for release sometime in 2025. In July 2025, however, its launch was postponed to spring 2026.

Following the subsequent change of publisher, the planned spring 2026 release was also postponed. A new release date has yet to be announced.

The August 31 announcement officially confirms Aniplex as the new publisher and lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Steam as platforms.
