Two New ONE PIECE Movies Announced: ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY for Summer 2027 and ONE PIECE FILM BAAD for 2029

Two new ONE PIECE movies are officially in production. ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY will be released in summer 2027, marking the first new film in the franchise in five years since ONE PIECE FILM RED, which opened in August 2022. A second film, ONE PIECE FILM BAAD, is scheduled for release in 2029.

ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY to Celebrate the Manga’s 30th Anniversary

The announcement was made on August 23 immediately after the conclusion of the main stage on the second day of ONE PIECE DAY, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The news was met with huge cheers from the audience.

The ONE PIECE manga will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its serialization on July 22, 2027. As a result, ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY will serve as a commemorative film for the milestone anniversary year.

The ONE PIECE television anime will also celebrate its 30th anniversary on October 20, 2029, and ONE PIECE FILM BAAD is being produced to commemorate that milestone. A handwritten title image by original creator Eiichiro Oda was also unveiled at the venue, surprising the audience.

ONE PIECE Has More Than 600 Million Copies in Circulation Worldwide

ONE PIECE is based on the manga that has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since July 22, 1997. The maritime adventure follows the legendary treasure known as the One Piece, left behind by the legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger.

The story centers on Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who ate the Devil Fruit known as the Gum Gum Fruit and gained the special ability to stretch his body like rubber. Luffy gathers companions and forms the pirate crew known as the Straw Hat Pirates as he embarks on an epic journey to become the Pirate King.

The manga has surpassed 600 million copies in circulation worldwide, while the television anime has been airing since 1999.

The 2022 animated feature ONE PIECE FILM RED became a major cultural phenomenon in Japan, earning more than ¥20.34 billion at the domestic box office. The franchise has also expanded into video games and a live action television series.
