Tokita commented:
“Thirty years ago, the manga serialization that ran in the children’s magazine Comic BomBom alongside the TV broadcast was very well received. I think it was precisely because they were children that they were able to honestly appreciate what made this series so appealing.
“And now, I am working hard every day to bring you a new Gundam X story. There are new elements, but I hope the feelings I have always had for Gundam X will once again reach everyone. Thank you for your support!”
The October 2026 issue of Monthly Gundam Ace is scheduled for release on August 26 and will feature the new After War Gundam X FLASH serialization as part of its celebration of the anime’s 30th anniversary.

About After War Gundam X
After War Gundam X began its television broadcast on April 5, 1996, as the third entry in the Gundam Alternative Series, presenting a setting separate from the Universal Century.
The story depicts the recurrence of global war and its consequences from the perspective of those on Earth, which had suffered unprecedented devastation from colony drops, with the narrative centered on the crew of the Vulture ship Freeden.
Against the backdrop of conflict involving the Freeden, the New United Nations Earth, and the Space Revolutionary Army, the series follows Garrod’s growth as he struggles to protect Tiffa. Another major theme is the existence of Newtypes, beings who transcend ordinary humanity.
The series also attracted attention for its many mobile suits with innovative designs, alongside Gundam types such as the Gundam X and Gundam DX.
