[Obituary] Lupin the 3rd Mourns Original Fujiko Mine Voice Actor Yukiko Nikaido: “Grateful for Her Many Years of Work”
Yukiko Nikaido, the original voice actor for Fujiko Mine in the Lupin the 3rd anime, died on July 3 at the age of 87. Following the news, the official Lupin the 3rd account on X posted a tribute to her. With Nikaido’s death, all five main cast members from the original Lupin the 3rd anime series have now passed away.

Lupin the 3rd Pays Tribute to Yukiko Nikaido
Nikaido was married to actor Hiroshi Yagyu. News of her death was announced on social media by Yatsugatake Club, whose representative is her second son, Sosuke Yagyu.
“Today, we have some sad news to share with everyone. Katsuko Yagyu, the first president of Yatsugatake Club, who worked as an actor and voice actor under the name Yukiko Nikaido and was also my mother, passed away on July 3. She was 87 years old. She passed away peacefully due to old age,” the statement read.
It continued, “My mother spent 11 years living in a care facility. Thanks to the devoted care provided by everyone at the facility, she was able to spend her final years in great peace and happiness. We are deeply grateful. Her innocent and cheerful personality, along with her appreciation for beautiful things, can still be felt throughout Yatsugatake Club.”
Following the announcement, the official Lupin the 3rd account paid tribute to Nikaido.
“Yukiko Nikaido, who voiced Fujiko Mine in Lupin the 3rd Part 1, passed away on July 3. We offer our condolences while expressing our gratitude for her many years of distinguished work. Thank you.”
Nikaido’s death means that all the main cast members from the original 1971 anime series have now passed away.
Yasuo Yamada, who voiced Lupin the Third, died in 1995 at the age of 62. Kiyoshi Kobayashi, who voiced Daisuke Jigen, died in 2022 at the age of 89. Chikao Otsuka, who voiced Goemon Ishikawa, died in 2015 at the age of 85. Goro Naya, who voiced Inspector Zenigata, died in 2013 at the age of 83.
