Koichi Yamadera and Kotono Mitsuishi Cast as Why-Man in 'Dr. STONE', Mastermind Behind All Humanity's Petrification; Final Episode Next Week
The final episode of the final season of the TV anime Dr. STONE is scheduled to air next week on the 25th on TOKYO MX and other networks. Ahead of the final battle, the "VS Why-Man Visual" has been unveiled, and it has been announced that Koichi Yamadera and Kotono Mitsuishi will join the cast to voice Why-Man.

In Episode 36, Why-Man—the mastermind behind the petrification—finally revealed their true identity, shedding light on the long-pursued mystery of the petrification phenomenon. The newly released visual captures a powerful scene featuring Senku Ishigami as he takes on the final battle for the fate of all humanity against the menacing figures of Why-Man. As the story races toward its climax, the final episode on the 25th will show what kind of wisdom and science Senku will employ in his fight.
The roles of Why-Man, the masterminds of the story, will be performed by Yamadera and Mitsuishi. Yamadera commented, "I am deeply honored to participate in this series, which possesses a one-of-a-kind worldview and has been loved for many years. As one of the voices playing the highly unique role of , I tried to study up on the series in my own way, but the scale of it is just so massive! (sweats) I would be delighted if I managed to help build excitement for the story."
Mitsuishi shared, "I am Kotono Mitsuishi, playing the highly mysterious . The climax on the Moon is finally here. Why-Man is a lifeform completely different from humanity, but I found it fascinating that they possessed distinct personalities, such as leaders, sub-leaders, conservatives, radicals, and progressives. I was absolutely thrilled that the leader was Yamadera's Why-Man. Utilizing other species to preserve one's own is a common tactic in the natural world. Even though they are mechanical, they gave me a raw, organic impression."
