Created by illustrator neco, Heavily Armed High School Girls is an original multimedia franchise centered on the theme of armed high school girls. Originating from neco's illustrations, the series has inspired numerous figures and built a dedicated fanbase both in Japan and overseas.

The franchise is known for its distinctive blend of delicate, melancholic characters and sharply designed weaponry, creating a sophisticated and visually striking world. The anime adaptation aims to bring new life to that unique vision through an accomplished production team.

The series will be directed by Masaki Tachibana, known for his work on Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 and Princess Principal. Series composition will be handled by Natsuko Takahashi, whose credits include Yuyushiki and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. The project is being jointly produced by Good Smile Film and Good Smile Company.

Original Character "Ichi" Featured in New Visual

Questions remain about why these girls carry weapons and what stories they will create in a devastated world. What began as a single illustration is now evolving into a full animated series.

The newly released visual showcases Ichi, a high school girl carrying multiple iconic swords. The illustration highlights her striking appearance and offers a glimpse of the role she may play in the upcoming anime, further raising anticipation among fans.

Comments from Creator neco

"Having my own work adapted into an anime is one of the greatest joys I could experience as an illustrator. Because of that, I have done everything I could to contribute to this project.

I am sure there were times when I caused difficulties for the production staff, but thanks to the support of so many people, I am truly happy that we can finally share this announcement with everyone.

Heavily Armed High School Girls began as a single illustration and has grown into figures and now an anime. I hope everyone will look forward to its broadcast."

Comment from Director Masaki Tachibana

"When adapting Heavily Armed High School Girls into an anime, I had many conversations with neco, the original creator. We discussed ideas such as, 'Maybe this character has this kind of personality,' and those discussions helped shape the scripts.

When the characters finally came to life through voice recording, neco and I often found ourselves making new discoveries together, saying, 'So this is what this character is like.'

I hope everyone looks forward to seeing Ichi and the others in action."

Comment from Series Composer Natsuko Takahashi

"I was immediately captivated by the girls of Heavily Armed High School Girls as depicted by neco. After receiving the project proposal, I became fascinated by these girls who carry not only physically heavy equipment but also emotional weight, while still remaining high school students at heart.

Working closely with Director Masaki Tachibana, neco, and the many members of the staff through extensive discussions has, I believe, become deeply reflected in the final work.

I was constantly impressed by the ideas and suggestions brought forward by the production team.

I hope viewers will enjoy seeing these girls who bear the weight of their equipment while still carrying the bright smiles and lighthearted spirit of ordinary high school students."
