THE GHOST IN THE SHELL Anime Premieres July 7, 2026, New PV Reveals the Puppet Master

THE GHOST IN THE SHELL will premiere on July 7, 2026, on Kansai TV and Fuji TV affiliates nationwide in the “Ka Anival!!” programming block.

New Visual and PV Revealed

The new TV anime, based on the original work by Shirow Masamune, has unveiled its third key visual, third promotional video, story details, character information, and additional staff.

The Ghost in the Shell series began serialization in 1989 in Young Magazine Kaizokuban. Since Mamoru Oshii’s 1995 film GHOST IN THE SHELL, the franchise has expanded through TV anime, OVAs, and a Hollywood live action film, becoming known worldwide as a landmark cyberpunk work.

The third key visual features the full body prosthetic cyborg Motoko Kusanagi at the center, alongside Public Security Section 9 members Batou, Togusa, Ishikawa, Saito, Boma, and Paz, as well as the AI equipped think tank Fuchikoma. The illustration was newly drawn by chief animation director Nao Naito.

The third promotional video consists of new anime footage. In addition to intense battle scenes featuring Public Security Section 9, it depicts drama surrounding the unidentified hacker known as the Puppet Master.

Additional staff members were also announced. Emi Katanosaka serves as art director, Osamu Masuyama as art supervisor, Satoshi Hashimoto as color designer, Hikari Ito as director of photography, Kiyoshi Hirose as editor, Yuji Tange as sound director, Shota Yaso as sound effects director, and Hiroaki Ota as recording engineer.

The official website has also fully opened. The series has been officially invited as a special screening title at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026, drawing global attention even before broadcast.

As a new era of Ghost in the Shell begins, fans around the world are watching closely to see what battles await Public Security Section 9 under Motoko Kusanagi.
