The Quintessential Quintuplets Announces Two New Anime Projects: “Shunkashuto” TV Series and New OVA Revealed
It has been officially announced that two new anime projects for The Quintessential Quintuplets are now in production. The first project is a television anime adaptation of the novel The Quintessential Quintuplets Spring Summer Fall Winter, while the second is a newly produced OVA that will animate previously unadapted original manga episodes. Alongside the announcement, a key visual and promotional footage were also released.

The announcement was made during the event The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2026 in TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO, held on May 2. As part of the new anime project, it was revealed that The Quintessential Quintuplets Shunkashuto(Spring Summer Fall Winter) will be adapted into a TV anime. This novel is a direct sequel fully supervised by original creator Negi Haruba and written by Hajime Asano. It depicts a continuation of the original story and is currently also being developed into a manga adaptation.

The story takes place over the course of a new year in the lives of the quintuplets, spanning from January of their third year in high school through December after graduation, portraying their everyday lives during this period.
The second project is a new OVA, which will newly animate original manga episodes that were not included in previous anime adaptations. This OVA aims to deliver scenes that fans have long wanted to see, following the TV special anime The Quintessential Quintuplets ∽ and The Quintessential Quintuplets *.
The Quintessential Quintuplets follows the story of Futaro, a high school boy living in poverty, who becomes a tutor for five unique quintuplet sisters Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki who are on the verge of failing. The romantic comedy centers on his efforts to guide them to graduation.

The original manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine published by Kodansha from August 2017 to February 2020, and has surpassed 20 million copies in circulation.
The anime adaptation first aired from January to March 2019, featuring popular voice actors Kana Hanazawa as Ichika, Ayana Taketatsu as Nino, Miku Ito as Miku, Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba, and Inori Minase as Itsuki. The second season aired from January to March 2021, followed by a theatrical film released in May 2022 that grossed over 2.24 billion yen. Subsequently, TV special anime The Quintessential Quintuplets ∽ and The Quintessential Quintuplets * were released both in theaters and on television.
