“Why are only humans special?”

Charlie is a boy living in a rural area of Missouri, USA. He is a “Humanzee,” half human and half chimpanzee, possessing intelligence that surpasses humans and physical abilities that exceed those of chimpanzees. When Charlie turns fifteen, he enrolls in school for the first time at the recommendation of his human foster parents.

There, Charlie meets Lucy, a brilliant girl who struggles with communication. His peaceful school life is short-lived, however, as Charlie becomes a target due to the uniqueness of his origins. A terrorist organization known as ALA, which advocates “animal liberation,” begins to pursue him.

In order to protect his family and Lucy, Charlie chooses to confront the ALA.

“Terrorism,” “discrimination,” “human rights,” “cancel culture”……

Together with Lucy, Charlie, who is “not human,” faces the issues that humanity itself carries.

A human and non-human drama begins here!!
