Medalist Anime Movie Set for 2027 Release: Teaser PV & Visual Reveal All-Japan Novice Championships Begin

The theatrical anime film Medalist has been officially announced for release in 2027. The story will depict events following Season 2 of the TV anime, centering on the opening of the All-Japan Novice Championships. Along with the announcement, a teaser visual and promotional video have also been unveiled.

The newly released visual features protagonist Inori Yuitsuka and her greatest rival Hikaru Kamisaki facing each other, hinting at Inori’s challenge for the top position. The PV also builds anticipation for the next stage of competition, showcasing Inori and her coach Tsukasa Akeuraji as they take on the All-Japan Novice Championships.

Medalist tells the story of Inori Yuitsuka, a young girl who begins to unlock her talent in figure skating, and Tsukasa Akeuraji, who grows as a coach. Together, they aim for the glory of becoming a “medalist.” Driven by Inori’s unwavering passion for the rink, Tsukasa takes on the role of her coach, guiding her as her talent blossoms while he continues to develop as an instructor.

The original manga by Tsurumaikada has been serialized in Monthly Afternoon since 2020. The series has received numerous accolades, including first place in the Comics category of the Next Manga Awards 2022, the General category award at the 68th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2022, and the Best Actress award at the Magademy Awards 2022, which honors manga characters, awarded to protagonist Inori Yuitsuka.

The first season of the TV anime aired from January to March 2025, followed by the second season from January to March 2026.
