Witch on the Holy Night will receive a theatrical anime adaptation in 2026, with new footage now unveiled. Animation studio ufotable announced on the 21st that the film adaptation of Witch on the Holy Night (JP: 魔法使いの夜, Mahou Tsukai no Yoru is officially scheduled for theatrical release in 2026. The anime project itself was first revealed in December 2021, making this the long awaited update for fans.

Witch on the Holy Night is a visual novel PC game developed and published by TYPE MOON, originally released on April 12, 2012. The scenario was written by Kinoko Nasu, known as the creator of The Garden of Sinners (JP:空の境界, Kara no Kyoukai and the Fate series, while the graphics were handled by Hirokazu Koyama, who has long contributed to TYPE MOON creative works.
The title gained attention as a classic style visual novel that brought together all essential elements of the genre including story, visuals, music, and direction at the highest level of quality.
The work traces its origins to an unpublished novel written by Kinoko Nasu prior to the release of Tsukihime. Within the TYPE MOON timeline, the story is set in the late 1980s, making it the earliest era depicted among the studio’s works.
