Star Detective Precure Episode 4 Story & Preview Cuts Released: A Request from an Aspiring Manga Artist

The story and preview images for Episode 4 of the new TV anime Star Detective Precure! (JP: 名探偵プリキュア！), the 23rd installment in the long-running Precure franchise, have been revealed. The series is set to begin airing on February 22.

Episode 4 Story

Although Mikuru Kobayashi has opened her detective agency, she grows frustrated as no clients seem to show up. One day, however, a man named Junichi Komatsuzaki suddenly rushes in. Junichi is a college student who aspires to become a manga artist, and he brings a troubling case. He explains that before he realized it, the contents of his bag had been switched, and the manga manuscript he originally had inside has gone missing.

After hearing Junichi’s story, Anna Akechi and the others deduce that his bag may have been swapped when he collided with someone in front of the train station. They learn that there was a woman at the scene carrying a bag identical to Junichi’s, and they begin searching for her. Just then, Gouemon of the Phantom Thieves' Guild appears and steals the bag.

Using Jett-senpai’s invention, the Pre-Kit Light, Anna and her friends manage to catch up with Gouemon. There, they are told that the item Gouemon had been searching for was also the bag Junichi originally possessed, and that the Makoto Jewel is likely dwelling within the missing manga manuscript.

Introduction

Star Detective Precure introduces the first detective themed Precure storyline in the franchise and is set primarily in 1999. The protagonist Anna Akechi is a 14 year old second year middle school student living in Makoto Mirai Town. On her birthday, she encounters a fairy named Pochitan and is guided by a mysterious pendant found in her room, triggering a time slip from the year 2027 back to Makoto Mirai City in 1999.

There, Anna meets another 14 year old girl, Mikuru Kobayashi, who dreams of becoming a great detective. When a series of incidents begin to occur, the two girls find themselves unable to ignore people suffering from stolen treasured possessions. Together, they transform into the Star Detective Precure, solving mysteries with the catchphrase “That mystery will be cured” while protecting smiles through sharp deduction and searching for clues that may allow Anna to return to her original time.
