Pokémon Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary as Takara Tomy Releases Three New Product Lines Including a Revived Pikachu Plush

The Pokémon franchise is marking its 30th anniversary, and Takara Tomy has announced the release of three commemorative product lines starting February 28. The launch celebrates 30 years since the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan.

The first item is a plush toy that faithfully recreates Pikachu’s original design from the early days of the franchise. Titled Pokémon 30th Anniversary Welcome Back Pikachu 1:1, the plush is priced at 7,480 yen (tax included). This item is a revival of the Pokémon Plush Pikachu 1:1, which was originally released in 1997 and shipped approximately 450,000 units. The product tag has also been redesigned to closely resemble the original version.

The second product is a palm-sized talking figure called Tenohira Pikachu Pokefuwa (palm-sized), priced at 2,200 yen (tax included). Measuring approximately 13 cm in length, the figure features a soft, fluffy texture achieved through the use of 3 mm long-pile flocked material on its surface. It includes 25 different patterns of cute spoken voice lines, allowing Pikachu to chatter adorably in the palm of your hand.

The third release is a set of high-quality figures titled Pokémon 30th Anniversary Moncolle Starter Pokémon Set, available in nine different variations. Each set is priced at 2,145 yen (tax included). These sets feature three partner Pokémon that players first encounter at the beginning of their journey, spanning all nine regions from Kanto to Paldea. Each set comes in region-themed packaging designed as a special 30th anniversary edition, allowing fans to enjoy displaying the figures while still in the box.

In addition, from March 5 through March 11, Takara Tomy will host the Takara Tomy Pokémon 30th POP-UP PARK at Tobu Department Store Ikebukuro Main Store, Basement Level 1 Multi Square, in Tokyo. This will be the first pop-up shop dedicated to Pokémon products from the Takara Tomy Group, offering fans a special space to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
