Episode 26

Having made his comeback, Kanata fights back against the NSX and BMW, overtaking them one after another as he steadily climbs up the rankings. Deeply moved by his relentless effort, Ren resolves to finally confess that she is one of the Angels.

On the fourth lap, Aiba passes Yajikita, while Akaba closes in on the leading Beckenbauer and Sawatari. After overtaking a Lamborghini, the 86 catches up to a Supra that has been struggling to get past a GT3. With an aggressive and razor sharp driving line, the 86 cleanly overtakes it.

Stunned and humiliated, Sena nevertheless fixes his gaze on the 86, determined to discern the true speed of Kanata.

MFGhost is a near-future public road racing manga created by Shuichi Shigeno. It was serialized in Young Magazine (Kodansha) from 2017 to February 2025 and serves as the successor to Initial D, which was also serialized in Young Magazine until 2013.

Set in the future beyond Initial D, in the year 202X, the story takes place in Japan, where autonomous driving technology has become widespread. Even in this era, however, public road car races are still being held. The name of the race that has gained explosive popularity around the world is “MFG.”
To take on MFG, the protagonist Kanata Katagiri, also known as Kanata Livington, travels to Japan from the UK. He steadily improves his results, finishing 9th in the opening round, Odawara Pikes Peak, and then 4th in the second round, Ashinoko GT. As his momentum builds, the stage is set for the third round, The Peninsula Manazuru.

With the entry of Sena Moroboshi, a rising star and heir to the pride of Gunma, the battle for the top positions grows even fiercer. Kanata challenges the race in his turbocharged Toyota 86, now boasting increased combat power. However, due to an elbow injury sustained just before the race, he is unable to use second gear as the final begins. One by one, his rivals overtake him, pushing him into a desperate situation. It is then that the raw, dormant fighting spirit within Kanata finally awakens.
