The story and preview images for Episode 1 of the TV anime Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword! (JP: お前ごときが魔王に勝てると思うな) have been revealed. This episode is scheduled to air on Friday, January 9 at 12:30 AM (JST), and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 1 Story

Chosen by a divine revelation to join the Hero’s Party, Flum Apricot finds herself with all her ability stats at zero. Deemed useless, she is betrayed by the sage Jean Inteige and sold off to a slave trader. According to Jean, the other party members agreed with the decision, and even the hero Flum once trusted coldly remarked that he was relieved he would never have to see her face again.

Branded as worthless even as a slave, Flum is sentenced to death as nothing more than cruel entertainment. Cornered with no escape, she grasps a cursed sword in her final moments. The instant she accepts death and grips the blade, fate itself is overturned.

Introduction

Despite having zero ability stats, Flum is chosen for the hero’s party by a divine revelation.

The only thing she possesses is a skill called “Reversal,” whose true nature remains unknown.

As expected, she is completely useless in battle. Even so, she does not give up and continues to work earnestly for the sake of the party. However, Jean, a sage renowned as a genius, finds her presence irritating. He repeatedly bullies her at every opportunity and eventually sells her off by force to a slave trader.

There, too, Flum is abused as a useless being, and in the end, she is about to be used as monster fodder for entertainment. Two choices are placed before her. Either take up the “Cursed Greatsword,” a weapon prepared as a cruel joke by the merchant that brings death to its wielder, or be devoured alive by monsters.

When she chooses to resist until the very end, her life begins to “reverse.”
