Kaiji and Kengan Ashura come together in a rare crossover one shot manga, marking a major collaboration between two iconic series. A special one shot titled Tobaku Kakutouden Kengan (Gambling Martial Arts Legend Kengan, JP: 賭博格闘伝ケンガン) was published in the latest issue of Young Magazine, released on the 22nd.

This project commemorates the 45th anniversary of Young Magazine. The one shot is based on an original concept by Nobuyuki Fukumoto, with the story written by Sandrovich Yabako and artwork by Daromeon. The crossover unites the intense psychological gambling of Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji with the brutal corporate combat world of Kengan Ashura.

The story unfolds at Harumi Port, where Teiai Group executive Yukio Tonegawa waits to oversee a restricted rock paper scissors match aboard the Espoir. However, instead of the familiar ship, a different vessel arrives under the ominous name Death Ship. Believing the name to be something the chairman would devise, Tonegawa boards it, only for the situation to take an unexpected turn.

About Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji

Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji is a gambling manga serialized in Young Magazine by Kodansha from 1996 to 1999. The story follows Kaiji Ito, a man living a reckless and idle life who is forced into high stakes gambling after accumulating massive debt. The series is known for its depiction of extreme psychological battles where life itself is on the line, as well as its iconic onomatopoeia “zawa zawa,” which emphasizes rising tension and anxiety.
