Mononoke the Movie: Hebigami will be released in Japan on May 29, 2026. The announcement came alongside a newly unveiled teaser visual, the first trailer, additional cast members, and cast comments.

The teaser visual depicts the Medicine Seller falling into a supernatural void, his tattered garments soaked in blood. Matching the tagline This is no ordinary force, the image evokes an overwhelming confrontation against Hebigami, a Mononoke of unprecedented power. Attention is also drawn to a newly revealed exorcism tool, the Mirror, which he holds in his right hand.

The first trailer introduces key figures at the center of this chapter’s story: Tenshi, the supreme ruler of the realm voiced by Miyu Irino, Yukiko, Tenshi’s primary consort voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki, and Hokuto Mizorogi voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda. These central members of the Ooku appear as their imposed duties and prescribed happiness intertwine, with their intersecting emotions and intentions conveyed through tense and conflicted dialogue. The Medicine Seller’s ominous line This is beyond my reach foreshadows the depth of Hebigami’s resentment and the greatest struggle he has ever faced. What secret has been hidden within the Ooku for generations? The answer will be revealed in theaters.

Additional casting includes Miyuki Sawashiro as the Third wife, the official consort of the third Tenshi from 150 years ago. Sawashiro describes her character as a chilling presence that feels like an alternative version of you or me, expressing quiet anticipation as she awaits how this enigmatic figure will be realized on screen. Her role becomes a critical key connecting past and present.

Comments have also arrived from Hiroshi Kamiya, who plays the Medicine Seller, and Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Yukiko, the main heroine of the third chapter.

Mononoke the Movie is structured in three chapters set within the Ooku. The story follows the mysterious Medicine Seller as he confronts supernatural disturbances caused by Mononoke shaped from human emotions and grudges. I play the Third Midaidokoro (wife). I could not help but imagine that had she been born in another era or raised in another environment, she might have become someone entirely different. Following Karakasa and Hinezumi, Mononoke the Movie will finally reach its conclusion with Chapter Three: Hebigami, where all mysteries are revealed.
