The new theater will inherit the concept of the 2019 theater-restaurant “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon -SHINING MOON TOKYO-”, which operated in Azabu-Juban, Tokyo. Opening at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel’s Club eX, this theater aims to host long-running performances and warmly welcome guests with a high level of entertainment.
The venue will feature a glamorous and impactful stage performance based on an original story, as well as greetings by the cast and special experiences such as original themed drinks, offering an immersive world for fans to enjoy.
The show’s composition and direction will be handled by Go Ueki, the main vocalist and dancer of the vocal-dance group PaniCrew, who has also earned high acclaim as a stage director — notably for his work on the New York production of “Attack on Titan -the Musical-.”
The script will be written by Shinjiro Kameda, well-known for his faithful storytelling and world-building in numerous 2.5D musical productions.
Additionally, theater space design will be overseen by LINDA Wataru Igarashi, the art director responsible for the interior designs of “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon -SHINING MOON TOKYO-” and the Sailor Moon store. Together, this distinguished team will craft a high-quality world that will captivate Sailor Moon fans worldwide.
Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in early 2026, with options available not only for domestic audiences but also for international visitors and tourists.
The Sailor Moon franchise originated as a shojo manga series written by Naoko Takeuchi, serialized in Kodansha’s monthly magazine Nakayoshi beginning in 1991. The manga has been translated into 17 languages, and the anime series has aired in over 40 countries, becoming a worldwide social phenomenon.
A new project was launched in 2012, expanding the franchise’s reach through digital releases, musicals, fan clubs, official stores, and exhibitions as part of the ongoing 30th anniversary project. In 2024, the long-awaited art collection “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Résone ART WORKS 1991–2023” was released.
This year, the performance show “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live” has toured London, North America (including Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, and New York), and will soon return to Japan for a domestic run before embarking on a China tour, further fueling the global excitement.
As for stage productions, the Sailor Moon franchise has presented numerous performances in Japan, including the long-running musical “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” series.
In 2018, a Nogizaka46-starring version of the musical was staged and revived three times due to its popularity.
In 2024, “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live” achieved a two-month London run, followed by a North American tour across 21 cities, drawing over 50,000 attendees and gaining enthusiastic support from international fans.
The series continues to expand its global reach, with a Japan return run in October and a China tour scheduled for November to December, demonstrating that the Sailor Moon phenomenon shows no sign of slowing down.
