On August 27, HUNTER×HUNTER creator Yoshihiro Togashi provided an update on X, announcing that the background detailing for Chapter 414 has been completed. This follows a prior post confirming the same status for Chapter 413. Togashi also revealed handwritten notes on the manuscript, such as “Ami-type speed lines from above and below,” indicating further progress on the upcoming chapter.

Chapter 414 Background Details Completed

Togashi's latest post on his official X account included an image of the Chapter 414 manuscript. Alongside the announcement “No.414, background details complete,” the image showed intricate handwritten instructions directly on the draft. These included notes like “Ami-type speed lines from above and below,” offering a glimpse into the meticulous work involved in finalizing each page.

This update came shortly after a similar message regarding Chapter 413, signaling continued movement in the production process.

HUNTER×HUNTER’s Story Continues Aboard the Ship

Hunter x Hunter, which began serialization in 1998, follows the story of Gon Freecss, a young boy who embarks on an adventure with friends like Killua to become a Hunter. The current arc, known as the Dark Continent Expedition / Succession War arc, depicts the clash of schemes and ambitions among Kurapika, members of the Phantom Troupe, and other characters aboard the voyage toward an unexplored land. The manga has surpassed 84 million copies in circulation (including digital editions).

The last weekly serialization ended with Chapter 400, published in the December 26, 2022 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. After nearly two years, new chapters (401 onward) began running weekly from October 7, 2024. However, it was later announced that serialization would once again go on hiatus starting with the magazine’s New Year Issue #3, released December 16, 2024.
