New Scene Cuts and Trailer Released for Director Naoko Yamada's Feature Animation "Your Colors"
New scene cuts and a trailer for the upcoming feature animation "Your Colors" directed by Naoko Yamada, known for "K-On! The Movie" (2011) and "A Silent Voice: The Movie" (2016), have been released. The film is set to premiere on August 30.
This entirely original work is scripted by Reiko Yoshida, who has collaborated with Yamada on numerous hit projects from Studio Ghibli and Kyoto Animation, including the "K-On!" series. The story follows Totsuko (voiced by Sayu Suzukawa), a high school student who can see people as "colors." She meets Kimi (voiced by Akari Takaishi) - a girl who emits a beautiful color - and Rui (voiced by Taisei Kido), a music-loving boy she encounters in a secondhand bookstore. The three form a band. Each with their own troubles, they connect through music and challenge their first live performance at the school festival.
The newly released scene cuts feature Totsuko, Kimi, Rui, and Sister Hiyoshiko (voiced by Yui Aragaki), who guides the trio. Totsuko, who has seen people as "colors" since childhood, is the only one unable to see her own "color." The scenes capture her looking up and gazing at something, surrounded by various happy, fun, and peaceful colors of others. Another cut shows Kimi in her school uniform, with a gaze that seems devoid of emotion. Rui is depicted playing his assigned instrument, the theremin, with a gentle expression that reveals his kind personality and passion for music. Additionally, a cut of Sister Hiyoshiko, a graduate and a trusted advisor to the students, portrays her as an essential guide for Totsuko and her friends. Kimi, who hasn't confided in her family about not attending school, and Rui, who hides his musical activities from his mother who expects him to become a doctor, are among the protagonists facing inner struggles. The new cuts heighten anticipation for how these characters will confront and navigate their dilemmas.
The new trailer introduces Totsuko's dorm roommates, whom she fondly calls the "Forest Sisters": Saku (voiced by Yasuko), Shiho (voiced by Aoi Yuki), and Sumika (voiced by Minako Kotobuki). It also features Kimi's grandmother, Shino Sakuena (voiced by Keiko Toda), with whom Kimi lives. This full-cast version adds even more depth to the upcoming film.
