The movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc: Part 1 – Akaza Returns will be screened in MX4D and 4DX at 74 theaters nationwide. There will be a special limited advance screening for seven days from August 15 to August 21, with the official release starting on August 30.

Additionally, starting August 30, a total of 300,000 attendees nationwide who watch the film in MX4D or 4DX will receive a special “4D Visual Original Sticker” as a limited-edition bonus.

Demon Slaye is based on the hugely popular manga that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. Set in the Taisho era, in a world inhabited by man-eating demons, it tells the story of a young boy named Tanjiro Kamado, whose family is slaughtered by demons. In order to turn his demonized sister Nezuko back into a human, he joins the Demon Slayer Corps and sets out to defeat the demon who killed his family. The manga has surpassed a total of 220 million copies in circulation worldwide.

From April to September 2019, the TV anime Demon Slayer – Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc aired and became a major hit. This was followed by the release of Demon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train in October 2020. The film became a social phenomenon, earning approximately 51.7 billion yen in box office revenue worldwide.

Following its success, the series expanded into video games and stage productions. The TV anime continued with the Entertainment District Arc airing in December 2021, the Swordsmith Village Arc in April 2023, and the Hashira Training Arc from May to June 2024. The story now moves to the big screen with a three-part film adaptation of the Infinity Castle Arc.
In Demon Slayer – Infinity Castle Arc: Part 1 – Akaza Returns, Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps face their final showdown in the demons’ stronghold, the Infinity Castle, against their ultimate nemesis Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Rank demons. The film is currently being shown in 452 theaters nationwide (393 standard theaters and 59 IMAX theaters).
