Tae Yamada Awakens in New Zombie Land Saga Movie Trailer: “What Can an Idol Even Do?”

The long-awaited new movie in the Zombie Land Saga series, titled Zombie Land Saga: YumeGinga Paradise (JP: ゾンビランドサガ ゆめぎんがパラダイス), is set to hit theaters on October 24. This marks the franchise’s first new installment in four years since the finale of Season 2, and it takes place during the Saga Expo.

The newly released trailer reveals a shocking turn of events as a massive spaceship suddenly appears over Saga, just as the members of Franchouchou are preparing for the ultimate performance as ambassadors for the Expo. As the entire Saga Prefecture faces an unprecedented attack, the idol group is thrown into chaos.

In a dramatic twist, Tae Yamada—long known as the legendary zombie who had yet to regain her consciousness—finally awakens. Declaring “What can an idol even do?”, she announces her departure from Franchouchou and heads alone into enemy territory to stop the invasion.

The trailer also features the debut of Franchouchou’s new song, “Matataku Sora ni Akogarete” ("Longing for the Twinkling Sky"), adding emotional depth to the already intense storyline. This new movie blends the unpredictable chaos that defines Zombie Land Saga with full-blown sci-fi action, promising an epic “Saga Fight” experience.

The accompanying main visual showcases Tae Yamada front and center, holding a weapon with a fierce expression, surrounded by her fellow Franchouchou members. Also present are Kotaro Tatsumi, Romero the zombie dog, and a host of other uniquely eccentric characters. The background is packed with dynamic imagery including the spaceship, fireworks, hot-air balloons, and pavilions of the Saga Expo.

Zombie Land Saga is a genre-bending anime in which seven legendary girls, resurrected as zombies by the mysterious idol producer Kotaro Tatsumi, form the local idol group “Franchouchou” to save Saga Prefecture. The first season aired from October to December 2018 and won numerous anime awards. The group, voiced by the anime’s main cast, was even appointed PR Ambassadors for Saga Prefecture, becoming beloved figures among the locals. The sequel, Zombie Land Saga Revenge, aired from April to June 2021.
