Yu-Gi-Oh! 25th Anniversary Live Event Brings Together Voice Actors and Artists for a Duelist Celebration

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, a special event titled Yu-Gi-Oh! 25th Duelist Live Kingdom was held on July 12 at TACHIKAWA STAGE GARDEN. The event brought together a dazzling lineup of artists who have performed the opening and ending themes throughout the franchise's history. Additionally, cast members from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters appeared on stage, making it a day to relive the series' evolution and its continued impact over the past 25 years. This report covers the daytime performance.

The event began with a pre-show narration by Katsuya Jonouchi (voiced by Hiroki Takahashi) and Seto Kaiba (voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda) from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. Their playful banter with the audience heightened anticipation before the live began. Once the retrospective video rolled—showcasing iconic scenes from the anime—the crowd erupted in cheers and applause.

The live kicked off with a powerful ensemble performance of “Genkai Battle,” a well-loved ending theme from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX 20th Remaster.

The excitement intensified as Masaaki Endoh delivered fiery renditions of “BELIEVE IN NEXUS” and “Clear Mind,” syncing perfectly with the high-speed visuals from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s.

Next, Ayaka Nanase performed “Sayonara ni wa Naranai” from Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!! with vocal clarity and poise, followed by a heartfelt cover of “Masterpiece” from Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL.

Cinema staff then took the stage with “Kirifuda,” channeling the inner struggles and hopes portrayed in Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V.

Veteran singer Masami Okui closed out the first half with “Ano Hi no Gogo” and “Shuffle,” two songs that nostalgically transported the audience back to the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters.

The event then shifted to a talk session featuring Shunsuke Kazama (Yugi Muto), Kenjiro Tsuda (Seto Kaiba), Hiroki Takahashi (Katsuya Jonouchi), Tetsuya Iwanaga (Marik Ishtar), Haruhi Nanao (Mai Valentine), and Junko Takeuchi (Mokuba Kaiba). As they watched clips of their characters' debut episodes, the cast fondly recalled their early performances—many laughing at their own youthful voices and how little their chemistry had changed over the decades.

Following the talk, the band vistlip re-energized the venue with “-OZONE-” from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s and “Artist” from Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. Their emotionally charged stage set the tone for the latter half.

Hideaki Takatori followed with a passionate performance of “Orenai Heart” from Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, raising the crowd’s energy in anticipation of the finale.

Yusuke Saeki then showcased his upbeat songs “Nanananananana” and “One Way,” representing the fresh direction of Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS and Go Rush!! respectively.

KIMERU brought the main show to a dramatic close with three songs: “go Forward” and “calling” from Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, followed by “OVERLAP” from Duel Monsters, stirring deep nostalgia with his commanding vocals.

For the encore, all artists returned to perform “Duel Shiyouze!” from Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!, a song known for its technical difficulty as noted by Masayoshi Oishi. They closed with another exhilarating round of “Genkai Battle,” bringing the 25th anniversary celebration to a fitting climax.
