On July 4, it was officially announced that a sequel to the TV anime The Apothecary Diaries is in production. Alongside this announcement, a new “super teaser PV” filled with hints about the upcoming story was released, as well as comments from original author Natsu Hyūga, Maomao’s voice actress Aoi Yuki, and Jinshi’s voice actor Takeo Otsuka.

Season 2 of the series concluded on July 4. This season introduced major developments such as Lady Gyokuyo’s pregnancy, Xiaolan’s personal growth, and the arrival of foreign envoys. While fresh winds swept through the palace, shadows from the past loomed as Maomao found herself entangled in a large-scale incident—the rebellion of the Shi Clan —that shook the entire nation. Jinshi, confronting his origins, led the Imperial Guards as the Emperor's younger brother and suppressed the uprising. The story temporarily concluded with Episode 48, titled “The Beginning.”

The newly released super teaser PV begins with Jinshi receiving a piece of paper from Loulan inside a fortress. The video features dialogue from Maomao and Jinshi, along with scenes and keywords foreshadowing the sequel. Phrases like “The story heads to new lands” and vast golden wheat fields suggest exciting developments to come.

Additionally, the official release date for the The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Original Soundtrack has been set for September 17. The jacket illustration has also been revealed, featuring a newly drawn image of Jinshi that complements Maomao’s art from the Season 1 soundtrack.
