10 Additional Cast Members Revealed for “100 Meters” Ahead of Nationwide Release© Uoto, Kodansha / 100 Meters Production Committee

Jun Kasama, best known for voicing Hisashi Mitsui in The First Slam Dunk, will portray Nikami, a former middle school track star who becomes a teammate of protagonist Togashi in high school. Rie Takahashi, famous for her role as Ai in Oshi no Ko, voices Asakusa, a bright high school girl who is passionate about track and recruits Togashi to the school’s track team. Yuki Tanaka, who played Riri Takahashi in Trillion Game, voices Shiina, a supportive team member who runs alongside Asakusa.

Atsumi Tanezaki, known as Anya Forger in the SPY×FAMILY series, plays the young Togashi during his elementary school years. Aoi Yuki, widely recognized for roles like Mao Mao in The Apothecary Diaries, voices the elementary school version of the other protagonist, Komiya, who—unlike Togashi—becomes obsessed with the 100-meter sprint as a means of escape from a harsh reality. Yuma Uchida, popular for his role as Haruka Sakura in WIND BREAKER, plays Kabaki, a promising young runner expected to lead the future of track and field.

Other newly revealed characters include athletes who cross paths with Togashi and Komiya throughout their careers. Junya Enoki voices Numano, a cheerful and friendly member of Komiya’s high school track team. Haruki Ishiya plays Kyoden, the team captain who secretly fears Komiya’s talent. Hiiro Ishibashi voices Morikawa, a track athlete who idolizes Togashi. Lastly, Tomokazu Sugita portrays Onomichi, Nigami’s rival and longtime frenemy.

Based on Uoto’s manga 100 Meters, which was published by Kodansha, the story delves into the obsession and passion of athletes captivated by the brilliance of the 100-meter sprint—an intense experience lasting less than 10 seconds. The original manga gained strong emotional resonance with readers, described as “soul-stirring” and “unlike any sports manga before,” continuing to maintain a loyal fan base even after its conclusion.

The film also received international attention with GKIDS, known for distributing Studio Ghibli films in North America, joining the project as a co-investor and acquiring the North American distribution rights. The film is scheduled for a North American release in October.

I’m honored to play Nikami in this project. What I found most challenging—and most essential—was conveying raw, unfiltered emotion. Emotions aren’t usually expressed for others to see, but this work transforms those deeply personal feelings into a swirling vortex of expression. My goal was to embody Nikami with sincerity and honesty. I hope you enjoy this fusion of human emotion and entertainment.

■Rie Takahashi (Asakusa)

I brought everything I had—my personality and experiences—into the audition. When I landed the role of Asakusa, I was filled with joy. The story’s powerful visuals made me reflect on my own life, as though I were reliving those moments through the characters’ interactions. It’s an honor to share in the world of 100 Meters.

I’m Yuki Tanaka, and I play Shiina. The athletes in this story each have their reasons they simply cannot lose. Watching them chase even a hundredth of a second faster made me hold my breath in awe. It’s an honor to run alongside Shiina through this raw, high-stakes world. Please witness their determination on the big screen.

■Atsumi Tanezaki (Young Togashi)

As someone who has always been slower than most, I had never imagined what it would be like to dedicate your life to 100 meters. Yet, this story contains emotions that even I can understand—intense and heartfelt. I’ve felt that heat throughout recording, and I hope that heat reaches everyone watching.

■Aoi Yuki (Young Komiya)

Komiya

I’ve spent my life running away from running, so portraying someone who lives by the sprint was eye-opening. Komiya’s view of the world—driven to run despite everything—was new to me. Recording felt like sprinting to the point of breathlessness… but weirdly exhilarating. I hope that feeling comes across. Please don’t miss it!

■Yuma Uchida (Kabaki)

Kabaki

I’m honored to be part of 100 Meters. Kabaki isn’t someone who says much, but he carries intense passion inside. I focused on delivering each line with care. I hope you’ll enjoy the film in theaters!

■Junya Enoki (Numano)

I’m Junya Enoki, voicing Numano. The original manga struck me with its intensity, so I was thrilled to join the voice cast. Beyond the track scenes, even the everyday moments are rich with charm. Please look forward to it!

■Haruki Ishiya (Tsuneda)

I also once dedicated everything I had to track and the 100-meter sprint, though only briefly. I had to give it up due to injury, so it’s a privilege to relive that experience through the role of Tsuneda. Just 10 seconds. Just 100 meters. A simple, fleeting, yet emotionally packed world—please enjoy witnessing it.

Hiiro Ishibashi (Morikawa)

Morikawa

Morikawa© Uoto, Kodansha / 100 Meters Production Committee

I’m Hiiro Ishibashi, voicing Morikawa. The original manga moved me so much that I knew I had to be part of this. Morikawa is a big fan of Togashi, played by Tori Matsuzaka. I myself have looked up to Mr. Matsuzaka, which helped me pour real emotion into the role. Be sure to watch the heated competitions in theaters!
