The stage adaptation of The Twelve Kingdoms: Shadow of the Moon, Sea of Shadow has unveiled its first promotional video (PV). Featuring the instrumental version of the musical’s main theme composed by Erika Fukazawa, the video showcases cast members in character, framed by iconic lines and shadow symbolism. The fantasy epic follows Yoko Nakajima, portrayed by two actresses—Hikaru Yuzuka as the otherworldly version and Ririka Kato as the high schooler still in our world. The visual direction includes original art by illustrator Akihiro Yamada, offering fans a glimpse into the high-concept aesthetic of this theatrical adaptation.

A Dual Yoko Portrayal on Stage

In a rare double-casting approach, Yoko Nakajima will be portrayed by two actresses, reflecting her transformation across two worlds. Hikaru Yuzuka plays the version of Yoko after she is transported to the alternate realm, while Ririka Kato plays the version still rooted in modern Japan. This theatrical device mirrors the heroine’s inner struggle and evolution as she rises from uncertainty to sovereignty.
