The critically acclaimed anime Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX has revealed new setting materials from Episode 9, titled “The Rose of Sharon.” These include fresh character introductions, mechanical designs, and updated costumes—pushing the series into a new narrative phase.

New Characters and “The Rose of Sharon” Debut in Episode 9

A key highlight of the new visuals is the introduction of Lalah Sune, voiced by rising star Hina Youmiya. Two more characters—Verni (voiced by Yui Ogura) and Kanchana (voiced by Hana Hishikawa)—also make their debut in this episode.

Fans also get a glimpse of protagonist Amate Yuzuriha, aka Matchu, in a new jersey given to her by Komori. And taking center stage among the mecha reveals is the mobile suit “The Rose of Sharon,” a symbolically named machine shrouded in mystery and thematic depth.

About Gundam GQuuuuuuX

Set in a space colony, the series follows Amate Yuzuriha, a high school student living a peaceful life until she meets Nyaan, a girl displaced by war. This encounter thrusts Amate into the underground world of Clumbattles, illegal mobile suit duels.

Taking on the entry name “Machu,” Amate pilots the GQuuuuuuX mobile suit and soon finds herself in relentless combat. As the story unfolds, she crosses paths with a mysterious Gundam—pursued by both the Space Forces and the police—and its enigmatic pilot, Shuji Ito, signaling the dawn of a new era.

This latest Gundam installment is a collaborative project between Studio Khara (known for the Evangelion series) and Sunrise (the studio behind all previous Gundam works). Kazuya Tsurumaki, known for directing Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, helms the project.
