About Kijin Gentosho

Kijin Gentosho is based on the popular novel by Motoo Nakanishi, published under Futabasha Bunko. Set in the year 1840, during a time of famine and social chaos, the story follows oni who disguise themselves as humans and deceive people for sport.

In the mountain village of Kadono, far from Edo, Jinta and his younger sister Suzune live a peaceful life, despite being outsiders who arrived for a certain reason in their childhood. The villagers accepted them, and the siblings grew up harmoniously.
The village is home to the Itsukihime, a shrine maiden protected by Jinta. One day, while on a mission to slay an oni, Jinta meets a mysterious demon who speaks of a distant future.

Facing death in his duty as a guardian, Jinta bravely marches forward. Suzune, though anxious, sees him off with a cheerful smile. Meanwhile, Shirayuki, the Itsukihime, fulfills her duties as a shrine maiden while being targeted by an oni.

As fate intertwines and spirals out of control, the story unfolds into a sweeping Japanese-style historical fantasy. From Edo to the Heisei era, it chronicles a 170-year journey of a demon warrior who questions the meaning behind wielding a sword.
