"Jujutsu Kaisen" Exhibition Reveals Characters Who Can Match Satoru Gojo, Including a New Look at Fumihiko Takaba
A large exhibition titled "Gege Akutami's 'Jujutsu Kaisen' Exhibition" that delves into the secrets behind the creation of the manga "Jujutsu Kaisen" is set to take place from July 6th to August 27th at Hikarie Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo. To celebrate, character introduction images have been released on platform X.
One of the characters featured is Fumihiko Takaba, known as the "Swimmer of the Massacre Loop," an unsuccessful comedian. He possesses a technique that could rival even Satoru Gojo's, capable of realizing images he believes will be successful, though he remains unaware of his own potential. He often gets angry at audiences who do not laugh.
Highlights of the exhibition include a comprehensive display of the digital creative process behind "Jujutsu Kaisen," complete with commentary from the creator. It showcases how the story, characters, and illustrations were conceived, evolved, and were elevated to new heights. The exhibition generously presents valuable drafts and sketches that precede the final manuscripts. Tickets for the exhibition are time-slotted and will be sold in three phases: "Premiere Advance Sale," "First Period," and "Second Period," with some dates subject to a pre-lottery system. Ticket prices are set at 2000 yen for adults, 1500 yen for middle and high school students, 1000 yen for children aged 4 to elementary school, and all tickets with goods are uniformly priced at 4200 yen. Tickets with goods include a choice between two types of area expansion acrylic dioramas: A: Unlimited Void and B: Submerged Demon Kitchen. "Jujutsu Kaisen," which began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in March 2018, is based on the manga of the same name. It unfolds a dark fantasy narrative where high school student Yuji Itadori enters the world of cursed battles after a powerful "Cursed Object" is unsealed. The comic series has surpassed 90 million copies in circulation. Its popularity soared with the TV anime broadcast from October 2020 to March 2021, followed by a movie in December 2021, and the second season of the TV anime from July to December 2023. A sequel, "Jujutsu Kaisen: Death Painting Voyage," is also in production.
