On March 28, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit his second home run of the season in the MLB U.S. Opening Game against the Detroit Tigers.

Batting leadoff as designated hitter, Ohtani stepped up for his fourth plate appearance in the 7th inning with two outs. On a full count, he connected with a high outside pitch and effortlessly sent it to the opposite field—over the left-field wall for a solo homer.

It was his first home run at Dodger Stadium this season, and the crowd erupted in celebration. Among the excited fans was none other than Tom Hanks, whose exuberant reaction was captured and shared on MLB’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
