On March 22, it was officially announced that One Piece in Love (Koisuru One Piece), the unique gag spin-off manga of ONE PIECE, will be adapted into a vertical short anime. The announcement came during the ONE PIECE Egghead Arc pre-release special stage at AnimeJapan 2025. The series will stream on various official ONE PIECE social media platforms every evening at 8 PM from April 1 to April 5.

In this offbeat yet officially endorsed spin-off, the story centers on Luffy Yamamoto.—a high school boy whose name is written with the kanji for "Pirate King" but pronounced "Luffy." Alongside him is his classmate Nami Koyama, whose name also mirrors a beloved ONE PIECE character. These high schoolers, bearing the names of Straw Hat crew members, navigate the highs and lows of teenage life in a world brimming with treasure-like everyday moments and occasional chaos.

During the AnimeJapan stage event, the main voice cast was revealed with a surprise guest appearance. Ryosuke Kanemoto will voice Luffy Yamamoto, Ayane Sakura will voice Nami Koyama, and Yuichi Nakamura will voice Usopp Nakatsugawa. The event also featured an introduction to the quirky yet charming characters that make this spin-off shine in its own right. In addition, the key visual for the anime was unveiled for the first time.

Koisuru One Piece offers a delightful new twist on the ONE PIECE universe, delivering high school antics, humor, and heartfelt moments through a cast of familiar-yet-different characters, all within a fresh vertical short format perfect for social media.
