Pokémon Horizons' New Arc "Mega Voltage" Set One Year Later: Begins as a Story of Reclaiming What Matters—with a New Character in the Mix

New details have been revealed for the upcoming arc of the Pokémon Horizons new arc, titled "Mega Voltage," (official shorthand: AniPoke), which begins airing on April 11 on TV Tokyo in Japan (Fridays at 6:55 PM JST). The announcement included the storyline, new visuals, and additional cast information.

In the new footage, we see older versions of the protagonists Liko, Roy, and Dot. A new character—a boy named Ult—appears alongside a Sableye, and both he and Roy are shown with glowing Mega Rings. The teaser features intense battles, including a Mega Sableye and a striking yellow Mega Lucario.

The story continues one year after the decisive battle at Laqua. Roy, still journeying with Captain Pikachu, hears reports of unusual Pokémon behavior and investigates. During his search, he encounters Ult and his Sableye. Deep in the forest, they witness a Slaking rampaging under the influence of Laquium—the mysterious substance thought to have vanished. Meanwhile, Liko is now a student at Indigo Academy.

The new arc follows Liko and her partner Meowscarada at school, while Roy continues his adventure with Fuecoco. The two reunited protagonists embark on a new journey alongside Captain Pikachu. With Dot and their newest companion Ult joining the group, the story centers on "recovering something important."

The new character Ult is voiced by Natsumi Fujiwara, who commented,

"I’ve been a fan of the Pokémon anime, movies, and games since I was a child, so I was thrilled—and surprised—to be part of such a long-running franchise! Ult brings a ‘new wind’ to the group and shows a strong sense of rivalry toward Roy. His youthful energy makes him quite charming. I hope everyone looks forward to seeing what kind of adventures Ult will experience with Liko and Roy!"

The Mega Voltage arc promises to raise the stakes with returning foes like the Explorers and the Six Heroes, while teasing new challenges waiting at the end of Liko and Roy’s evolving journey.
