"The Quintessential Quintuplets" is a romantic comedy about a high school boy, Futaro Uesugi, who is living in poverty. He becomes the tutor for quintuplet sisters—Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki—who are on the verge of failing and struggles to guide them to graduation. The original manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) from August 2017 to February 2020, with the comics surpassing a total of 20 million copies. From January to March 2019, a TV anime featuring popular voice actors like Kana Hanazawa (as Ichika), Ayana Taketatsu (as Nino), Miku Ito (as Miku), Ayane Sakura (as Yotsuba), and Inori Minase (as Itsuki) was broadcast and gained popularity. A second season aired from January to March 2021, and a film released in May 2022 surpassed 2.24 billion yen in box office revenue. Additionally, a new anime production has been decided, focusing on Futaro and the quintuplets' honeymoon, with the original creator Negi Haruba fully supervising under the title "The Quintessential Quintuplets∗."
