The production of A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 4 has been officially confirmed, and a special teaser has been released. Additionally, a TV anime adaptation of A Certain Dark Side’s Girls, another spin-off of the A Certain series, has also been announced. With these, two new anime projects from the A Certain series are now in development.

A Certain Scientific Railgun is a spin-off of the A Certain Magical Index light novel series, featuring Mikoto Misaka, one of its heroines, as the protagonist.

The story is set in Academy City, where supernatural abilities known as "Esper Powers" are scientifically developed. It follows Mikoto Misaka and her friends as they navigate their peaceful yet slightly unusual daily lives.

The first season aired from 2009 to 2010, followed by the second in 2013 and the third in 2020.

The announcement of A Certain Scientific Railgun Season 4 was made during the "Dengeki Bunko × ABEMA Super New Year’s Winter Festival Online 2025" event, streamed on ABEMA. During the same event, it was revealed that the light novel A Certain Dark Side’s Girls would also be adapted into a TV anime.
