Fans were captivated by the artwork, which depicts Lum in a sailor uniform with a delicate and ephemeral expression. Reactions included:

“Perfect for Setsubun! Thank you!” (Setsubun is a Japanese tradition marking the seasonal change, observed in early February. People throw roasted soybeans to drive away evil spirits and bring good fortune.)
“That blown kiss looks devastatingly powerful!”
“Abe-sensei’s Lum! I’m so happy!”

This artwork is part of a special project celebrating the 45th anniversary of Urusei Yatsura, which began serialization in 1978. A total of 33 renowned manga artists, including Gosho Aoyama and Eiichiro Oda, contributed tribute illustrations for the occasion.
