“KochiKame” One-Shot Manga Released! Higurashi Wakes Up. Collaboration with “Super Psychic Policeman Chojo”
A special one-shot manga collaboration between the police comedy series Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo (KochiKame) by Osamu Akimoto and Super Psychic Policeman Chojo by Shun Numa has been published in the 2025 double issue #6–7 of Weekly Shonen Jump released on January 4. The story is featured in 12 full-color pages.
In this one-shot, KochiKame’s iconic character Neruo Higurashi finally awakens, but where he finds himself upon waking up is the key to the story. Alongside the collaboration, Chapter 45 of Super Psychic Policeman Chojo (19 pages) is also included in the issue.
Additionally, the same issue highlights the upcoming KochiKame Museum, slated to open in March 2025.
Weekly Shonen Jump ran KochiKame from 1976 to 2016 for nearly 40 years, featuring protagonist Kankichi Ryotsu, a police officer stationed at Kameari Koen-mae Police Box. Set in Tokyo’s downtown district, the series follows Ryo-san and his colleagues through humorous misadventures. The series gained immense popularity, spawning a TV anime, a live-action drama starring Shingo Katori, and a feature film.
Super Psychic Policeman Chojo is a supernatural police comedy about Chojo Jun, a psychic sergeant who uses extraordinary powers to solve cases, and his judo-skilled partner, Naoto Ichimonji, as they work to maintain peace in a city rife with desire. The series is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump.
