Monthly Shonen Magazine Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Harold Sakuishi’s New Series and Iconic Re-Releases
As Monthly Shonen Magazine marks its 50th anniversary in 2025, the celebration kicks off with the January 2025 issue, released on December 6, 2024. Over the next year, the magazine will roll out a series of special events and projects to honor its half-century legacy.
New Visual and a Message of "Encounters"
A commemorative visual was unveiled under the theme “Boys Are Waiting for Encounters,” celebrating the magazine’s rich history. The editorial team reflected on Shonen Magazine’s legacy, highlighting how its stories often revolved around pivotal encounters—be it with rivals, loved ones, or aspirations.
The message emphasized their mission:
“For 50 years, we’ve walked with our readers, providing exciting experiences, inspiring characters, and dreams for the future. We thank our fans for their support and will continue to deliver stories that spark excitement and imagination.”
Harold Sakuishi Returns with The Band
After 16 years, Harold Sakuishi (BECK) returns to Monthly Shonen Magazine with a new music-themed manga titled The Band, which begins serialization in the January 2025 issue. Fans can expect the same passion and deep storytelling that made BECK a cultural phenomenon.
