A Vampire Comedy with Love, Laughter, and Drama

The film tells the story of Ranmaru Mori (Ryo Yoshizawa), a 450-year-old vampire working at a bathhouse while longing for the “ultimate flavor”—the blood of an 18-year-old virgin. As he watches over the coming-of-age journey of Rin Tatano (Rikuto Itagaki), the son of the bathhouse owner, complications arise when Rin falls for his classmate Aoi Shinozuka (Nanoka Hara). Determined to preserve Rin’s purity, Ranmaru embarks on a desperate “Operation Virginity Defense.”

The film blends a modern-day setting with flashbacks to Japan’s Warring States period, revealing Ranmaru’s past as a loyal servant to the legendary warlord Oda Nobunaga, portrayed by Shinichi Tsutsumi.

Shinichi Tsutsumi as Oda Nobunaga

Ranmaru’s historical connection to Nobunaga is brought to life with Tsutsumi’s commanding portrayal of the warlord, who plays a pivotal role in Ranmaru’s backstory. In addition to exploring Ranmaru’s deep admiration for Nobunaga, the story also highlights the strained relationship with Ranmaru’s older brother Nagayoshi Mori (played by Gordon Maeda).

Tsutsumi’s Comment
“Although my time as Nobunaga was brief, the attention to costume detail made the experience meaningful. I’ve worked with Ryo Yoshizawa before, so even scenes like the back-hug felt natural. While other characters are quite chaotic, I kept my portrayal restrained to suit Nobunaga’s role as a revered figure. I look forward to seeing everyone’s incredible performances in the final film.”

The Tatano Family: A Modern-Day Comedy

Takashi Sasano, Takuma Otoo, and Kurara Emi bring warmth and humor to the Tatano family, who manage the bathhouse “Koi no Yu,” where Ranmaru works.

Takashi Sasano as Chojirou Tatano, Rin’s mischievous grandfather with a penchant for quirky humor.
Takuma Otoo as Haruhiko Tatano, Rin’s boisterous father prone to embarrassing moments.
Kurara Emi as Tamao Tatano, Rin’s cheerful and nurturing mother who keeps the family grounded.

Cast Comments
Takashi Sasano:
“I love working with director Shunji Hamasaki and look forward to laughing alongside audiences in theaters.”

Takuma Otoo:
“The camaraderie on set was fantastic, and director Hamasaki’s playful direction let us push boundaries. Get ready for an outrageous and fun ride—don’t think too hard, just enjoy!”

Kurara Emi:
“I play Tamao, the warm and accepting mother of Rin, who’s surrounded by her quirky family and Ranmaru. It was a joy sharing laughs with the cast during filming. I hope the Tatano family’s cheerful atmosphere shines through on screen.”

A Cinematic Blend of Past and Present

The film intertwines its vampire comedy with dramatic moments, exploring themes of family, love, and destiny. Ranmaru’s past with Nobunaga and his ties to his brother Nagayoshi add depth to the modern-day hijinks.

Mark your calendars for February 14, 2025, to join the chaos, laughter, and heartfelt moments of Babanba Banban Vampire.
