A New Take on Ninja Legends: Comedy Meets Action

Under Ninja, based on Kengo Hanazawa’s popular manga series from Young Magazine, reimagines ninjas for the modern world. Director Yūichi Fukuda, known for his work on Gintama and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., is bringing his signature humor and dynamic action style to the adaptation. Kento Yamazaki stars as Kurō Kumogakure, a low-ranking member of the ninja organization “NIN,” tasked with a top-secret mission.

Comedy-Filled Supporting Cast

Tsuyoshi Muro will play Kumogakure's neighbor, Ono, an unlucky office worker recently laid off. Known for his comedic talent, Muro is expected to add a warm, quirky touch to the role, blending humor with moments of relatable drama.

Haruka Kinami stars as Kawato, a cheerful beer-loving woman living below Kumogakure’s apartment. Fans of The Hero Yoshihiko series will be delighted to see Muro and Kinami reunite with director Fukuda after nearly a decade. Their characters’ neighborhood antics promise plenty of laughs.

Shinobu Hasegawa, known for his distinctive teacher roles in other Fukuda films, plays Kumogakure’s homeroom teacher, delivering sharp-witted humor and classic Fukuda-style gags.

Jiro Sato portrays Yoshida, a struggling historical novelist. With his eccentric appearance and unique presence, Sato brings Yoshida to life with a mix of humor and irony, adding another layer of comedic charm.

First Look: Character Visuals and Trailer

New visuals show each character's unique personality, from Ono in glasses pointing at the name on the bottom of his beer can to Kawato smiling with a can in hand. In the trailer, Kawato humorously throws a sandal at Kurō upon meeting his gaze, while Ono appears in a horror-like scene reminiscent of a ghost story. Yoshida, soaking in a bath of vibrant green water, shouts at his editor, Suzuki (played by Mai Shiraishi). A climactic scene also teases an intense showdown in Kurō’s apartment closet.
