'Shonen Jump+ Celebrates 10th Anniversary: Special Exhibition, Video Releases, and More
Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+" (which has accumulated 28 million downloads) celebrated its 10th anniversary on September 22. To mark the occasion, they have launched a series of 10 special anniversary projects.
1. "Shonen Jump+ Exhibition" to be Held
A special exhibition featuring works from "Shonen Jump+" is set to take place in Tokyo in the spring of 2025. This event will showcase the 10-year journey of the platform, with displays of original artwork, videos, and various installations, offering fans a real-life experience of its evolution.
2. "Shonen Jump+ 10th Anniversary Manga Award" Announced
A large-scale manga award exclusive to the 10th anniversary will be held. Ten of the most popular manga artists from "Shonen Jump+" will serve as special judges, with a total prize pool exceeding 10 million yen, making it the largest manga award in the platform's history. Further details will be announced on "Shonen Jump+" at 3 PM on Wednesday, September 25.
3. 10th Anniversary Commemorative Video Released
A special 10th anniversary video will be released on the YouTube channel "Jump+ Channel." The video will showcase images from popular serialized works over the past 10 years, along with a message about the future of "Shonen Jump+." It will be available from midnight on Sunday, September 22.
4. "Shonen Jump+ One-Shot Compilation" to Be Published
Twenty of the finest one-shot works published on "Shonen Jump+" will be compiled into a collection of books. Each volume will include five works, with four volumes scheduled for simultaneous release around winter 2024.
5. "Shonen Jump+ One-Shot Special Website" to Be Launched
A special website introducing more than 1,000 one-shot works published over the past 10 years will be created, offering various perspectives on these stories. The site will also feature exclusive content, such as interviews with famous personalities discussing their recommended one-shots. It is scheduled to go live in October.
6. "Jump+ Radio" to Air on Nippon Cultural Broadcasting
A radio show titled "Jump+ Radio" will be broadcast on Nippon Cultural Broadcasting. Voice actor Toshiki Masuda will host the program, with popular currently-serialized manga creators appearing as guests from the second episode onwards. Listeners can enjoy special content, including behind-the-scenes stories from the authors. The show will air every Sunday from 7:30 to 8:00 PM, starting October 6, and will also be available as a podcast.
7. POP UP Event "#Jump+365" to Be Held in Omotesando
Starting October 17, a POP UP event titled "#Jump+365" (reservation required) will be held at the event space "ZeroBase Omotesando." In line with the theme of delivering manga every day for 10 years, 365 acrylic keychains featuring characters from 365 different serialized works will be available. Attendees can press a real-life version of the "Like Button" 10 times, and receive one keychain per person. The characters will correspond to the serializations updated on the same day, while from October 24 to 28, they will be distributed at random. The venue will be marked by a giant image of Anya from SPY×FAMILY printed on the exterior wall.
8. "Shonen Jump+ 10th Anniversary Merchandise" in Development
"Impactful" merchandise featuring the app icon of "Shonen Jump+" is currently being developed. A "Jump+ Fair" will be held at Jump Shops nationwide in January 2025.
9. Exclusive Events on "Shonen Jump+" and Free Campaigns at Digital Bookstores
As part of the anniversary, from October 9 to October 18, over 20 popular titles such as SPY×FAMILY, Kaiju No. 8, and Takopi's Original Sin will be available to read for free, with all chapters unlocked for a limited time, with a different title available each day. Additionally, from September 22 to October 21, digital bookstores including "Shonen Jump+" will offer over 280 titles such as Karada Sagashi, Devil's Mememe, and Ayakashi Triangle, with the first volumes available for free or extended sample readings.
10. "Watch Ads to Support the Creators" Campaign
During the campaign period from September 22 to October 13, a button labeled "Watch Ads to Support the Creators" will appear at the end of episodes of original "Shonen Jump+" serialized works. When viewers press the button and watch the ad, a portion of the ad revenue will be returned to the author of the episode.
