Currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, Yumeneko Connect is described as an all-senses “SF” — or “sukebe fantasy” — comedy.
The story follows Yuhi Takamiya, who misses the first week of high school because of illness and finds himself without friends. His life suddenly changes when Nano, a Pokotsun alien from outer space, appears before him.

Nano’s unusual and often unreliable products quickly turn Yuhi’s school life into a series of unpredictable incidents, mixing a colorful school setting with cute heroines, bold comedy and increasingly chaotic situations.

Yusuke Kobayashi will voice Yuhi Takamiya, while Yu Sasahara will play Nano.

Kobayashi said his immediate reaction to being cast was, “Seriously?!” He described the series as unusually daring for the current era and praised the staff’s commitment, animation and the cast’s full-energy performances.

Sasahara said the work is filled with “a lot of dreams,” adding that she has been enjoying the fast pace of the series and trying things she had never attempted before as a performer.

The teaser PV centers on Yuhi and Nano and brings the manga’s pop and risqué fantasy elements into animation with character voices and movement.

Director Sota Yokote said that, unlike productions where staff might point viewers toward one specific episode, every episode of Yumeneko Connect has something to watch for.

His comment humorously emphasized how consistently the anime embraces the manga’s risqué humor, including material that goes further than some chapters of the original work.

Yokote also said one of the series’ strengths is the combination of cute characters, erotic comedy and gags, and thanked creator Kou Sawada, Kodansha and the production committee for supporting the adaptation.

Character designer Yoshihiro Watanabe said he was drawn to working on a risqué series again, while noting that detailed corrections and feedback from the original creator and director helped shape the final character designs.

Series composer and scriptwriter Gigaemon Ichikawa stressed that Yumeneko Connect is, first and foremost, an adaptation of a legitimate shonen manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine.

At the same time, he joked about the challenge of adapting such provocative material for terrestrial television, saying the staff are approaching the project with full commitment despite the restrictions of the current era.

Original creator Kou Sawada thanked readers, editors and everyone involved for helping make the anime adaptation possible.

He said that when he first heard about the project, his excitement was immediately followed by the thought, “Is this really okay?”

Sawada said he had the same reaction after seeing the scripts and storyboards, which he felt showed the same level of fan service as the manga, or even more.

He added that he is looking forward to seeing the anime created by a staff that is sincerely engaging with Yumeneko Connect and encouraged readers to look forward to the adaptation.
