HUNTER×HUNTER Has Surpassed 100 Million Copies in Circulation

HUNTER×HUNTER began serialization in 1998.

The adventure fantasy follows Gon Freecss as he sets out on a journey with friends including Killua Zoldyck.

The current story depicts conflicting motives among characters including Kurapika and members of the Phantom Troupe aboard a ship heading toward an unexplored continent, in material associated with the Dark Continent Arc and Succession Contest Arc.

The manga has surpassed 100 million copies in cumulative circulation, including digital editions.

Togashi Previously Explained How Back Pain Affected His Work

Togashi has previously spoken publicly about how back pain affected his ability to draw.

In 2022, when an exhibition of his work was being held, he said he understood that readers were probably thinking, “Just draw the rest of the story already.”

He explained that he had been unable to draw for around two years because he could not sit in a chair, but had managed to resume work by abandoning his previous working method.

Togashi also described how severe the condition had become, saying ordinary movements could take three to five times longer than usual and stressing the importance of taking care of one's back.

Weekly Serialization Ended in December 2022

In December 2022, the Weekly Shonen Jump Editorial Department announced that the manga would no longer be published in a weekly serialization format.

The editorial department said the decision was made after discussions with Togashi while taking his physical condition into consideration, and that future chapters would be delivered in a format other than weekly serialization.

Because the weekly serialization format has already ended, official announcements do not describe future chapter publication as a “resumption of serialization.”

Likewise, the magazine does not label the series as being “on hiatus” in its end pages.

Chapters 411–420 Were Published Most Recently

More recently, HUNTER×HUNTER Chapters 411 through 420 were published between the issue released on June 29 and the issue released on September 7.

The timing of the next chapter publication has not yet been announced.
