Vinland Saga Vol.29

Vinland Saga Vol.29

Set in 11th-century Scandinavia, where Vikings run rampant, this is the story of Thorfinn’s quest to discover what it truly means to be a warrior.

After spending his childhood seeking revenge for his father's death, and his youth as a slave on a farm, Thorfinn now strives to build a peaceful nation in the promised land of Vinland.

With wheat fields flourishing, Thorfinn and his companions make steady progress in cultivating the new land. As they begin to form a friendly relationship with the native Unu people, a plague suddenly sweeps through Vinland. Suspicion and hatred begin to fester between the Norse settlers and the Unu, each side preparing for war in the name of protecting their own peace.

As Vinland begins to fall under the sway of that all-too-human excuse—"we had no choice"—Thorfinn proposes a radical solution: withdrawal. He offers to leave Vinland in order to prevent war, and the Unu chieftain accepts. For a moment, it seems peace might prevail.

But an unprecedented crisis sparks action from the pro-war faction, derailing the negotiations. War finally breaks out, engulfing the village of Arneis in flames.

This isn’t the promised land. So where is it?

Where will Thorfinn’s dream lead him?

The Norse epic that asks what it means to be a true warrior—at last, it reaches its conclusion!
