Emperor and Empress of Japan to Visit Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai on October 6, Viewing Areas Announced

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition announced on September 3 that the Emperor and Empress of Japan are scheduled to visit the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai venue on October 6, 2025. Osaka Prefecture also confirmed the visit on the same day, adding that designated viewing areas will be established along the procession route. Attendees are urged to follow safety guidelines, and traffic restrictions will be enforced during the visit.

Emperor and Empress to Visit Expo 2025 Venue in Osaka

On September 3, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition officially announced through the event’s website that the Emperor and Empress of Japan will make an Imperial Visit to the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai venue. The visit is scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2025.

The announcement stated, “Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress are scheduled to visit Osaka Prefecture on October 6, 2025 (Monday), to inspect the venue of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.” It also noted that, should the Empress be unwell, only the Emperor would make the visit.

Osaka Prefecture Confirms Visit and Plans Public Viewing Spots

Osaka Prefecture released a statement on the same day, confirming that Their Majesties will visit the Expo venue on October 6, 2025.

According to the prefectural government, designated viewing areas for members of the public to welcome and send off Their Majesties will be set up along the route within Osaka Prefecture. Those wishing to attend are asked to follow the posted guidelines and cooperate with the arrangements.

Traffic Restrictions and Public Safety Guidelines Announced

Traffic restrictions will be in place on the day of the visit. Specific times and affected routes will be announced soon on the Osaka Prefectural Police website.
The following safety precautions and regulations were issued for the viewing areas:
Follow instructions and line up in an orderly manner within the designated zones
Avoid bringing or displaying banners, placards, or other message signs
Do not step onto the roadway or attempt to approach the vehicles
Viewing is not permitted outside of the designated areas
Cooperate with baggage checks and metal detection screenings
Place your belongings in transparent bags on the ground
Prohibited items, such as box cutters, will be held in safekeeping
