Takara Tomy Wins 11 Prizes at Japan Toy Awards 2025, Including Tomica and Licca-chan House
Takara Tomy has secured 11 prizes at the Japan Toy Awards 2025, including three Grand Awards. Among the top winners were the Grand Mall Tomica Building, released to mark Tomica’s 55th anniversary, and the Licca-chan House Talking Auto-Lock Two-Story Grand Maison. The results highlighted the company’s strong presence in the toy industry, with recognition across multiple categories.

Takara Tomy’s Grand Award Winners
The three Grand Award winners were the Tomica & Plarail Block: Vehicle Block Town Box (Educational category), the Grand Mall Tomica Building (55th Anniversary Edition) (Action category), and the Licca-chan House Talking Auto-Lock Two-Story Grand Maison (Co-Play Toys category). This marked the first time the Tomica brand won in two categories and the third consecutive year that the Tomica World received a Grand Award. Judges highlighted educational value, the ability to recreate familiar everyday scenes, compatibility with other toys, and universal design features.

Takara Tomy also received recognition in other categories. The baby toy Winnie the Pooh Selectable Rotating 6-Way Gym Transforming Mobile, which has sold more than 1.5 million units, received the Hit Sales Award. The globally popular BEYBLADE X series earned a Special Award, having shipped more than 520 million units across 80 countries and regions since its 1999 debut. The series will host the BEYBLADE X World Championship 2025 in October next year.

The baby toy Winnie the Pooh Selectable Rotating 6-Way Gym Transforming Mobile, a long-time bestseller with over 1.5 million units sold, received the Hit Sales Award at the Japan Toy Awards 2025 (C) Disney. Based on the “Winnie the Pooh” works by A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard.

The BEYBLADE X series, born in 1999 and shipped worldwide in more than 80 countries and regions, earned the Special Award at the Japan Toy Awards 2025 as it continues its international success (C) TOMY.

Six toys earned Excellence Awards: Licca-chan: Colorful Illumi Crane Let’s Go Round One (Basic category), Pokémon Rotom Phone SHAKE (Character category), Quick-Press Quiz Button (Game & Puzzle category), Punirunz Sanrio Characters (Digital category), Pokémon Pyoko Puny series (Variety category), and Pikachu Together! Talking Word Scanner (Co-Play Toys category).

Licca-chan: Colorful Illumi Crane Let’s Go Round One won the Excellence Award in the Basic category at the Japan Toy Awards 2025 for its engaging design and broad appeal (C) TOMY.

Pokémon Rotom Phone SHAKE captured children’s imagination and was awarded the Excellence Award in the Character category at the Japan Toy Awards 2025 (C) Nintendo · Creatures · GAME FREAK · TV Tokyo · ShoPro · JR Kikaku (C) Pokémon.

The Quick-Press Quiz Button, an interactive game for rapid trivia competition, received the Excellence Award in the Game & Puzzle category at the Japan Toy Awards 2025 (C) TOMY (C) baton inc.

Japan Toy Awards Overview
Established in 2008, the Japan Toy Awards are now in their 17th edition. This year’s competition received 350 entries from 44 companies. The award-winning toys, including the Grand Award recipients, will be showcased at the Tokyo Toy Show 2025 in August, where they will be introduced to audiences across generations.
