Sapporo Breweries has announced the second release in its collaborative project with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure creator Hirohiko Araki. The new limited-edition Yebisu Beer can features an original Western-style bijin-ga illustration by Araki and will be available across Japan starting September 17. Promotional campaigns and events will accompany the release in both Tokyo and Osaka.

What Sapporo Breweries Announced

Sapporo Breweries revealed that it will release a new limited-edition Yebisu Beer can featuring original artwork by manga artist Hirohiko Araki on September 17. This marks the second entry in a collaboration that began earlier in 2025. The first edition, released in February, was well received and featured Araki’s interpretation of Yebisu’s classic bijin-ga poster with a modernized touch.

The second design continues this concept with a new update: a Western-style bijin-ga, presenting a further evolution in both artistic style and era representation. The updated illustration, created exclusively for this product, is printed on the can and reflects Araki's distinct visual approach.

Details of the Can Design and Product

The second edition of the Yebisu Beer collaboration features a portrait in Western dress, drawn by Hirohiko Araki. The design is part of a series that reinterprets traditional Yebisu bijin-ga posters through Araki's lens. Like the first edition, the contents of the can remain unchanged from regular Yebisu Beer.

Two can sizes will be available: 350ml and 500ml. The product will be sold nationwide in Japan from September 17, with pricing set as open (unlisted). The artwork retains Araki's distinctive line work and detail, bringing a fresh interpretation to a historic advertising tradition.

Campaigns and Events

To promote the new release, Sapporo Breweries will run multiple campaigns:

A giveaway campaign offering reproduction cans featuring Araki’s artwork

A follow-and-repost campaign on X (formerly Twitter), with chances to win the special design cans

Additionally, after a collaboration event held at YEBISU BREWERY TOKYO from February to May, the upcoming event series will expand to include a location in Osaka. Specific dates and details for these promotional activities are expected to be provided by the company closer to the release date.

This project continues Sapporo’s efforts to combine traditional branding elements with contemporary cultural icons, supported by Araki’s global fanbase and unique artistic contributions.
