Originally serialized in Manga Time Kirara MAX, the four-panel manga Bocchi the Rock! by Aki Hamaji follows the socially anxious and introverted high school girl Hitori Gotoh, who finds her place in a band named Kessoku Band alongside the energetic Nijika Ijichi, the aloof Ryo Yamada, and the cheerful Ikuyo Kita.

After its TV anime adaptation aired from October to December 2022, the series saw an explosive rise in popularity, especially among younger audiences. It received widespread acclaim and numerous awards both domestically and internationally.

The music aspect of the series also saw major success: Kessoku Band’s full album “Kessoku Band” ranked No.1 in Oricon’s 2023 Digital Album Sales Chart by title category. In 2024, a theatrical compilation movie was released in two parts, and a second season of the TV anime is officially in production.
