Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has announced the grand opening of the highly anticipated Donkey Kong Country expansion within Super Nintendo World. Launching December 11, this new area will bring Donkey Kong and his jungle adventures to life just in time for the Christmas and winter holiday season.

Donkey Kong Country: Expanding Super Nintendo World

The Super Nintendo World section at USJ, which opened in March 2021, is already popular with fans of Nintendo characters like Mario. With this expansion, the area has increased by 70%, featuring a new lush and expansive Donkey Kong Country dedicated to Donkey Kong and his friends. Although originally planned for spring 2024, the opening has been moved to align with the park’s holiday season festivities, creating an extra-special experience for visitors.

Highlights of Donkey Kong Country

One of the main attractions in Donkey Kong Country is the thrilling minecart ride, Donkey Kong’s Crazy Cart. A preview of the ride and the towering Golden Temple were unveiled to the press, showcasing immersive experiences that bring the iconic game to life. Guests can enjoy wild minecart adventures through a vast jungle landscape and experience physical challenges that capture the spirit of Donkey Kong’s world.

Perfect Timing: “No Limit! Christmas” Celebration

USJ’s annual “NO LIMIT! Christmas” event runs from November 20 to January 5, offering exclusive seasonal programs, merchandise, and themed food items. With this year’s event featuring a 30-meter-tall Christmas tree, the opening of Donkey Kong Country promises to make this holiday season even more exciting for visitors.
