Shinichi Kudo & Kaito Kid Grace the Cover of "anan" - A Special Detective Conan Feature! The Back Cover Features Heiji Hattori & Kazuha Toyama
The weekly women's magazine "anan," in its issue releasing on April 17th (number 2394), celebrates the release of "Detective Conan: The $1 Million Pentagram" by featuring Shinichi Kudo and Kaito Kid on the front cover, and Heiji Hattori with Kazuha Toyama on the back cover, both in a rare two-shot format.
Over the past six years, anan has regularly featured the "Detective Conan" movie series, and this year is no exception with a special collaboration. The newly drawn illustrations feature Shinichi Kudo, Kaito Kid, Heiji Hattori, and Kazuha Toyama.
The front cover shows high school sophomores Shinichi and Kaito, both known for their brilliance and talent, dressed up elegantly as if they were attending a prom. The cover captures their confident, elegant, and youthful expressions that are sure to captivate fans. This issue's front cover illustration presents them in a cloakroom setting just before heading out, where Shinichi, adjusting his bow tie, and Kaito, resting his arm on Shinichi's shoulder with a mischievous grin, appear ready to escort the reader. It's a scenario where both are impeccably dressed, suggesting they are about to lead the way.
On the back cover, Heiji and Kazuha strike a charming pose. Known as the high school detectives from the West, and still in a 'will-they-won't-they' phase, they bring a romantic subplot that fans adore. The illustration captures them just as they arrive at the prom venue, unexpectedly caught by the flash of paparazzi.
Since 2018, anan has annually featured the "Detective Conan" movie series. This issue, titled "Adult's Guide to Detective Conan Movie," delves deep into the relationships between Conan and Kid, as well as the Kansai duo, Heiji Hattori & Kazuha Toyama, featuring them prominently. It revisits Kid's notable appearances from his first TV anime entry to the latest movies and explores Heiji and Kazuha's characters in detail. Additionally, the issue includes interviews with Kappei Yamaguchi (voice of Kaito Kid), Ryo Horikawa (voice of Heiji Hattori), Yuuko Miyamura (voice of Kazuha Toyama), and director Tomoka Nagaoka.
